How I Make Money Blogging: Income Split for August/September 2010

By admin On October 17, 2010 No Comments

Blogging for Dollars38 comments

Since April this year I’ve been putting together income reports for my own business to try to give readers a sense of how bloggers can earn income from a variety of sources.

It’s been a couple of months since I gave an update, so today I’m going to cover both August and September.

Below you’ll see two pie charts with the two months’ splits. You’ll notice that there are a few differences between them, with ebook sales being the biggest mover of the month (it always shifts quite a bit when you launch a new ebook, as I did in August with the Copywriting Scorecard for Bloggers).

The 7 Deadly Fears of Blogging and How to Overcome Them

By admin On October 16, 2010 No Comments

This guest post is by Nathan Hangen of Build Your Digital Empire.

I remember back to early 2008, when I’d just started blogging, that even though I had great ambitions, my knowledge, expertise, and confidence as a blogger was sorely lacking. I stumbled through my blogging career for over a year before I felt I had a really good grip on things, and even then, there were many things I struggled with.

But more than anything, through all of the struggles I faced, there was one enemy that kept popping up time and time again, each time in a different form than the last. This enemy was fierce, determined, and relentless, and eventually I had no choice but to either confront it, or forever commit to a life of running.

Finally, in a Bruce Wayne moment of clarity, I decided to turn-around, face this enemy, and obliterate him. His name was

A Few Thoughts On Driving Traffic To Your Blog

By admin On September 29, 2010 No Comments

The Dot Com bubble burst is a decade away, and the Blogosphere has reigned supreme ever since, and shows no signs of slowing down. So many people blog these days, that I would not be surprised if my grandmother had a journal about cross-stitching. But as we all know, people do not blog for no reason. They want to be heard, respected, and most often…paid.

And to make any money off of a blog, a blogger needs traffic. Lots and lots of traffic; a high-volume blog can accrue thousands of track backs and referrals. But the underlying question is this, “How do I get people to visit my blog?” Simple answer – Be Interesting! Be interesting like nobody else can; and find yourself a niche; something you are intrinsically better at than other people. Something you do not mind writing obsessively about, even if it is how you like to collect

Still Having Trouble Finding A Niche For Your Cash Blog?

By admin On September 28, 2010 No Comments

Last post I talked a little bit about finding a niche for your blog. I have been talking to a couple people who after still trying to come up with something to blog about and earn from, they still just cant do it! I totally understand this, and have another suggestion for you. If you can’t decide what niche to go into because you simply don’t think you have enough knowledge, or maybe you like too many different things to pick just one. Maybe you are an affiliate marketer that enjoys offering a wide variety of products. Whatever the reason, an easy solution is to start a self branded blog.

One great reason to keep a self branded blog (ex. myname.com) is that you can use it as a testing platform. If you have a new plug in that you want to try, or maybe you just purchased a new theme

Finding Your Cash Earning Blogging Niche

By admin On September 26, 2010 No Comments
Every blog needs a niche, but I want to stress that you shouldn’t get
so stuck on picking the perfect niche that you never get your blog off
the ground.

If you pick a niche and it doesn’t pan out, you can always make
another blog in a different niche!

The important thing is to take action and choose one.
What if all the good niches are saturated?

I don’t personally believe in saturation and that’s probably because I
think of niches in terms of keywords. Besides all the niches that you
“think” are saturated are probably the ones that you can make the
most money in. Like weight loss and dog training and getting your
ex back. (In reality, these are actually markets but a lot of people
refer to them as niches – a niche would be a subset such as weight
loss after pregnancy or german shepherd dog training).
If

Adsense Alternatives For Your Blog

By admin On September 19, 2010 1 Comment

I have been hearing a lot about people having their adsense accounts disabled lately. I am sure some of these instances are legitimate but I have  ahrad time believing that all of these people are truly doing something wrong. Regardless, Adsense is not the only option for cost per click advertising on your blog. Here are some other options that you have.

  • AdBrite
  • Bidvertiser
  • Infolinks
  • Chitika
  • Clicksor
  • Exit Junction
  • Value click
  • All of these networks offer unique and different benefits. Its up to you to decide which service is the best fit for your blog, and what network you can maximize to earn the most money from. Any advertising worth putting on your blog is worth earning from. This type of advertising won’t be your main source of income on your blog but can certianly be a nice addition to the other streams of revenue that you have.

Using Your Blog For List Building Pt 1.

By admin On September 19, 2010 No Comments

This will be the first piece on using your blog to build your list. Blogging is a great way to get  alot of eyes on your sign up form list. There are certain things you can do when trying to build your list with your blog that will help.

List Building Secret #1 – Make Your Content Relevant Keeps Your Subscribers Happy And Boosts The Amount Of People Who Will Recommend Your Newsletter To Their Friends.

One of the biggest problems I see blog publishers having online is that they write about subjects no one in their market is interested in. They just write about whatever they think people want to know about without doing any of the research, which is a huge no no.

Another problem is, publishers who have a market well defined don’t then write the content on their blog that interests their readers. There is no use having a blog on

Blogging Burnout and How To Avoid It!

By admin On September 6, 2010 No Comments

Blogging is definitely a fun, enjoyable way to do some internet marketing and earn a little extra cash online.  The problem is, to make even a little money online, you will have to put some work into your blog. Many times, people will plug away at their blog adding post after post day after day, and simply become sick of doing it, or overwhelmed by the amount of work it can be. This is called Blogging burnout. Blogging burnout does not have to set in, and here are some tips on how to avoid it.

    Write About A Passion

This one seems pretty simple, because why would anyone want to start and maintain a blog about something they don’t love? Well, one reason is a passing interest, another might be because the author is looking at their blog from a purely monetary standpoint. If you write about things that you are truly

    Flipping Blogs For Profit

By admin On September 5, 2010 No Comments

In this day and age, internet marketing has become almost a “survival of the fittest” type of situation – in other words, if you haven’t been doing it for a while and you lack the resources that others have, then finding a viable way to make money online is most likely going to be a rocky road to travel. Not to say it’s impossible, because it surely isn’t, but sometimes taking a step back and really targeting what people want is the key to success.

The title of this article probably gave it away, but it must be said that there is a huge market right now for buying/selling blogs, and if you’re pretty comfortable with blogging, then this is an opportunity that you could easily cash in on, and finally make money on the internet!

Using this method, you won’t have to learn all the stuff that the “gurus” teach, like:

Having a great looking blog is awesome. You spend time picking out the perfect blog theme, the perfect way to lay it all out, and you make your first post. Now what? Are you supposed to just sit back and wait for traffic? Well you can, or you can take a few steps to insure that your blog is going to get a healthy flow of readers every day.

    Blogging Traffic Tip #1

    Pinging Every Blog Post:

Pinging each of your blog posts when you make them is one of the most simple, effective things you can to to generate traffic to your blog.
